Stardew Valley celebrates the Feast of the Winter Star on the 25th day of Winter, bringing the townspeople together to feast and relax. Mayor Lewis says it best. There's a gift exchange, along with a big decorated tree in town square. The entire town gathers to exchange presents and have a big feast. With snow on the ground and Pelican Town decorated, it's a fun holiday event. A season of giving calls for a warm and sweet snack, and roasted hazelnuts are perfect. The recipe in game just calls for roasted hazelnuts but since it's a party, we dressed them up a bit with honey and spices! This is pretty easy to make and goes great with the holidays.
I was Clint's secret Santa this year, and gave him a ruby. Haley was my secret Santa and ended up giving me a ruby, too! What a neat coincidence.
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Shell the nuts and place in a single layer on a cookie sheet. Bake for about 10 minutes.
While the nuts are roasting, mix together the honey, sugar, and spices.
When the hazelnuts are done roasting, place them into the honey mixture and mix well. After roasting, the skin on the hazelnuts are easier to remove if you'd like to do so before mixing in them into the honey. Spread the hazelnuts onto another cookie sheet, in a single layer, and bake at 350 degrees for another 15 minutes, stirring every couple minutes.
Sprinkle some sugar on top and let cool, then enjoy! These are really easy to make, and a delicious snack for this time of year. Just be careful of getting sticky fingers! (They're not too sticky once they have time to rest a bit, don't worry.)
