Wakfu is a cute and fun MMO with an anime series associated with it, which is great to watch! There's a lot to run around and do inside the game, including baking and cooking. I'm just a beginner in the game, but I'm having a lot of fun exploring and finding out what I can do so far. The combat is turn-based strategy, which is refreshingly different. Thanksgiving is this week so we're doing some themed recipes and a great bread to accompany your feast is cornbread! One of the things I'm thankful for in games are games with adorable creatures and pets in them (especially ones with adorable names like "Bow Meow") so I decided to make a recipe from Wakfu for part of my Thanksgiving, or "Thanksgaming." Cornbread is a quick and super-easy to dish to make, and a great side for any Thanksgaming meal! The recipe is simple in the game... I think, and a breeze to make for real.
I found the baking area in Astrub, the city you end up in after leaving the starting area, and immediately signed up to make delicious foods. Here is the ingredient list and effects for cornbread. Though, I think this will taste better if we skip the popcorn and just use corn meal haha. I did find some wheat near a river so I'm off to some kind of a start! It's a shared resource so I tried to grab as much as I could, I just hope I wasn't sneaking onto someone's farm!
I forget what these guys are called but look at how fluffy they are! I need to find out if they can be my pet! If a game has cute creatures or pets or companions of some sort, it's more likely to grab my attention. It's always nice being able to share an adventure with someone by your side. Wakfu has both companions and pets which can boost stats and help you in battle!
Preheat the oven to 425 degrees. Whisk together the dry ingredients and the wet ingredients separately then combine the wet ingredients into the dry and whisk together until thoroughly mixed.
Pour mixture into a generously buttered/greased a 9x9 pan and bake for 25-30 minutes. Let cool, cut, and enjoy!
I feel that using two eggs helps bind the cornbread a little better so that it's not too fall apart crumbly but also a little more dense. Generously buttering the pan will result in a nice thin crusty edge. All in all, an easy and delicious bread!
Hanging out with the bow meows while I enjoy dinner. They are everywhere in Astrub and they are adorable!
