Halloween is here, and the shadow of Mad King Thorn has fallen over Tyria! It's time to gather around the Mad King and listen to his horrible, horrible jokes. Lion's Arch has been redecorated, and there's plenty of spooky stuff to do. The Mad King's Labyrinth and his Clock Tower jumping puzzle have returned from previous years, and finally making a comeback is the Lunatic Inquisition activity! If you want to hunt fellow players for sport, that's the game for you.
You can even search for pieces of the Mad King's history to complete backpieces, and there are two new backpieces to collect as well! These backpieces are all books chronicling the life, death, and afterlife of Mad King Thorn. There's an eerie green book, a burning orange book, a blue book with starry smoke, and even the ghost of a book. Not only that, but there are three new armor sets you can craft or get from achievements. Mounts aren't left out either; you can get new spooky skins for your mounts in the gem store! All in all, lots of great stuff to do and collect!
Of course, it wouldn't be Halloween in Tyria without candy corn. There's countless things to do with it in-game, and seeing it around always makes me crave some in real life. Candy corn is great to just snack on, but if you want to make something really delicious, take some inspiration from a Guild Wars 2 recipe and bake some candy corn cookies!
Roughly chop the candy corn and stick in the freezer to harden up.
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.
Cream together the butter and sugar.
Gently mix in the egg and vanilla.
Slowly add half the flour and baking powder, mix thoroughly, then add the rest of the flour, mix thoroughly again.
Use your hands to fold in the candy corn pieces into the dough.
Using about 1 heaping tablespoon sized scoops of dough, make little cookie disks, and place on a greased or foil lined baking sheet.
Place a whole candy corn in the center.
Bake for about 12-15 minutes. Be careful, since these are soft sugar cookies, they don't really brown on top, but the center candy corn starting to melt is a better indication of them being done. The candy corn may leak out while baking and will be very hot, wait until the cookies are cooled before breaking the excess off. Enjoy!
